Trekking in the Jungle

The Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest is a naturalist´s paradise and the perfect place for observing birds, plants, and a myriad of biodiversity.

The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world and Ecuador, being at the transition zone between the deep Amazon and the high Andes, provides some of the most biodiverse areas on the planet. About 60 million years ago, when the Andes rose up, changing the course of the Amazon to the East, countless species found refuge in the numerous micro-climates of the eastern slopes of the mountains.

The favorite way to visit the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest is flying to a small jungle town from where you are taken by canoe to one of the jungle lodges in primary rainforest.

The jungle lodges offer a very comfortable and easy way to see exotic rainforest wildlife.

Another recommended way to get to know the Amazonian rainforest is flying into the south-eastern province of Morona-Santiago.Here lies a hidden place in the rainforest, almost completely unspoiled by civilization.
